PRE-EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM / TRANSITION CERTIFICATE GRADE 10, GRADE 11, GRADE 12

 

Students are referred to the program by parents or guardians, self referral, subject teachers or guidance counsellors.

 

Graduation Certificate

 

 

At the completion of 28 high school courses students earn a high school Transition Certificate, awarded by the Winnipeg School Division.  Courses taken are developed by Manitoba Education, Gordon Bell High School and the Winnipeg School Division.

Aim Of The Pre-Employment Program

 

 

To prepare students to enter the world of work while receiving a High School Certificate.

Goals Of The Pre-Employment Program

 

1.   Academic Development

-          to develop basic skills in speaking, reading, writing and listening.

-          to develop basic mathematical skills.

-          to develop general knowledge in the areas of science, geography and social studies.

 

2.   Career Development

-          to provide exposure and experience within the world of work.

-          to develop attitudes and skills necessary to seek, find and hold employment.

-          to provide support in obtaining part time and, eventually, full time employment.

 

3.   Personal Development

-          to develop life skills and attitudes for responsible adulthood.

-          to encourage lifetime activities for effective use of leisure time.
